Embryo Transfer - 25 years of experience
Embryo transfer involves specific hormonal treatment of cows and heifers to cause multiple follicles to ovulate (superovulation). Approximately seven days after estrus and insemination, embryos are non-surgically flushed from the donor’s uterus and transferred fresh into recipients serving as surrogates, or they can be frozen to be thawed and transferred at a later point in time.

Embryo transfer can be an economical option to increase a cow’s reproductive efficiency, allowing many more calves to be produced in her lifetime than naturally possible.

In 1980, Trans Ova Genetics began business as a premier “on farm” embryo transfer service organization, specializing in a team approach. Both an embryologist and a technical veterinarian visit dairy herds seeking embryo transfer success on elite donor animals, allowing for greater efficiency and increased odds of good transfer results.

Trans Ova Genetics also specializes in in-clinic services to help elite donors produce more embryos and more offspring, increasing breeders’ selection and marketing opportunities.

Trans Ova Genetics has facilities at several locations throughout the U.S. for the comfortable, safe and productive housing of non-lactating dairy cows and heifers.
